Chickenpox is caused by the Varicella-Zoster virus and is a highly contagious infection. Its common symptoms include an itchy, blister-like rash, fever and fatigue. The illness often begins with fever, tiredness, loss of appetite and headache, followed by fluid-filled blisters that gradually dry and form scabs.
