Udupi city unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party will hold a torchlight protest march against alleged failures of MESCOM on October 28, City BJP president Dinesh Amin said. The march will be led by Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna.

The march will begin near Board High School in Udupi at 6.30 pm on Wednesday. It will proceed along K M Marg, pass through Diana Circle and culminate near the MESCOM office.

Amin said people across Udupi district have been facing frequent power cuts, low voltage, an inadequate number of transformers and poor maintenance. He also cited a shortage of MESCOM staff. The protest will demand that the state government address these issues immediately and ensure a reliable electricity supply to the district. In a statement, Amin urged party leaders, workers and members of the public to take part in the march.
